Y5/6 Football News!
Posted 18th November 2024
On Wednesday 13th November, a group of year 5/6 children were invited to the finals of the Sporting Influence football finals after qualifying in the early rounds in September.
The team worked tirelessly during each of their 4 matches and supported one another on and off the pitch. In their penultimate game, after winning their first two matches convincingly, they faced their fiercest opposition of the day. During the twelve minute match, things were evenly matched with other sides strong in both defence and attack. On the very last kick of the game, Western conceded the only goal of the match which changed their gold medal hopes, to silver. Western won their final game but alas, so did their biggest rivals.
Mr Roberts and I are so proud of how all the children conducted themselves over the course of the tournament: they really were a credit to our school and a pleasure to spend the morning with.
Well done to all involved; you should be extremely proud of yourselves!
